Slowly but surely

Well Mira is in her second week at school. Three days last week she worked half days and two days she had to stay all day but so far this week she is working half days. Someone drove her most of last week but last Friday and since then she is driving herself. It has been really rough on her but she is still wearing her back brace and using the PVC pipe pole Ken made for her. It helps her to sit down and get back up and to walk also. Gives her some stability. She is not using her walker now. She will restart her pool therapy Friday after school. Her friends have been going and getting groceries for her.
She still needs all the prayers anyone can send up for her.

I have been taking it easy since she had been gone but my body is still tired even though I am taking the iron tablets and B12 shots. I still stay tired when actually I am not doing much of anything but getting us small meals and very little housework.

Ken is trying to keep the grass cut which grows so fast it actually needs cutting twice a week. It's been really hot but it's supposed to cool down a little this week. He got too hot one day. He is only able to cut a few rounds at a time. His eyes are gradually getting worse. I just thank God he was able to see to get Mira to and from the hospital and doctors when she had to make those trips to Birmingham.

Today we go back to our regular family doc for a checkup.
Thank you all again for your many prayers, good positive comments and good thoughts for all of us.
Ken has been taking a lot of pears off to the dumpster because there are so many falling.

 Bartlett Pears 8-8-09

Another wildflower which I don't know the name of.

Have a blessed day everyone. Helen

  4. You know that you all are in my prayers! You are probably so wore down from taking care of Mira. It may take sometime to get over it. Bless your hearts!

  5. Take your time Helen. I know that sounds cliched, but your body is telling you how tired it is and that it does need LOTS of rest. Baby steps here dear Helen... Just like Mira, gotta take it one step at a time. Keep at it in increments Helen, and you'll get there. Prayers to you and yours... And a special "hey" to Patches and Daisy Mae :)

    God Bless you and yours...

  6. Glad Mira is doing well. Sorry you are so tired but it is a reaction to stress and worry, take it little by little. The pears look delicious, wish we had a pear tree in our garden but there is no room. Prayers will still be coming your way.

  9. I think Mira has a great support team behind her at home and work...it helps. Hope each day you gain your energy back, and can do more. Ken did so much to get Mira to and from her appointments. He, like you have gotten her through a lot. The wild flower is so pretty...have a great end to the week...hugs and love,

  10. Hey Helen,
Glad to hear Mira is still able to get around, we pray that things continue to improve for all of you guys. I know Ken has had a lion's share to carry also.
I lean toward 'hard fruit' so I love those pears when I pull them off the tree. I like to hear them 'crack' when I bite into them.
Isn't it sad to have to destroy so much fruit, but you have no choice when no one can use them.
TAke care, I wanted to pull one of those Pears.
    Love y'all,
    Sherry & jack

  12. Good to hear Mira is continuing to improve each day. I agree with everyone else, you and Ken need to slow down, and rest. Now it's time to think of yourselves. Take it one day at a time, and God will take care of the rest. Always good to see a post from you, Helen.
    Hugs and Love,
    Pat

  13. I'm glad Mira is managing to get around better now although she'll have to take it easy and not do too much too quickly. I'm sorry to hear Kens' eyes are getting worse, sight is one of the things we take so much for granted. Still keeping you all in my prayers Helen. Your pears look delicious and that white flower is so pretty. Jeannette xx

  17. It is good that Mira is gradually getting back to living her life with as much less pain. I am happy for her.

It is incredible to hear that you had to throw away the many fallen pears... here, pears are imported and are quite expensive.

I like the photo of the white wild flower. You have good skills to photography it with its grains showing. I have trouble getting more character out of my photos with white flowers as subjects.

    Have a great weekend!

  22. Pears that fall off the tree and lay on the ground and bees buzz around them are almost always ripe and delicious. The old fashioned pears that is. These look like something more modern.
