Hello everybody, I am wondering how many of you saw the Northern lights last night or this morning? I know they have a proper name but it alludes me right now. Too many people had on their porch light or security lights to see them last night so I got up early this morning and did get off a few shots before it got completely daylight. I hope you all enjoy looking at them. We very seldom get a chance to see them here in Alabama.

Have a blessed afternoon. Helen

  1. The photos are beautiful, Helen. I've heard about this on the TV news but had completely forgotten to go outside and look. Perhaps I'll be able to see something tonight.

  6. We drove to Alaska and never saw them I think they are the 'Aurora borealis'. I was afraid to try to spell it and I am not close enough for spell check LOL.
You are so lucky to see anything like that from Alabama. Good work and determination. I usually lose my perspective once in the bed. hahahahah

Love to you and Ken from here.(bet he stayed in bed)

  11. Gorgeous! The only time I ever saw them was when I was visting St. Petersburg in Russia. Due to the city being so far north, it was still light outside at 10PM (in April), and then when the sun did set, we saw an amazing display.

  12. It is great that you were out and about to take the wonderful photo's of the sky light show. I thought they are caused by the earth's magnetic force changing or something electrical charge related in the atmosphere. This is my second attempt to leave a comment so I will try again. Mark

  15. I'm a month late, but the Aurora Borealis are so striking. Luckily, here in northern WI, we see them quite often. They are spectacular and beat any fireworks without all the noise.
So happy you got to see them way down in Alabama.

  16. The last time I remember seeing them, I must have been around 10 or 12. They were beautiful, looked like colors dancing across the sky. I see Dar gave you the name of them, aurora borealis. Northern Lights is much easier to remember and say. I'm getting caught up on my rest and the meal I took to Mom's this past Friday was all store bought. There's a local bakery that makes these delicious pies, but then I also like the frozen ones by Marie Calison I think that is the name, you have to bake them yourself. The lemon pie was $8.99 but it was a large pie and lemon is a favorite of my Mom and me.
