Times are not so good.

Good morning everybody. It's been quite a while since I have made an entry. Like everywhere else it has been so hot here in Alabama. We are having a time keeping our grass cut in this hot humid weather. That grass is growing twice as fast as it normally would.
Well I am asking all of you for more prayers our way. Ken had a scan done on his abdomen a couple of weeks ago. Our regular surgeon has left his practice and went on to higher things. So we went to see the surgeon who helped with the surgery when Ken had his ruptured aortic aneurysm. The doc who sent him to get the scan thought he had a aneurysm now. Well it turned out what they were seeing was the repair work that was done before. Only thing is when this surgeon looked at the scan, (he could pull up scans from the hospital) he could see where there was an aneurysm below his groin in both artery's going down toward his knees. He scheduled another scan to be done on the 3rd of August so he could tell more about them. He said they can sometimes put a stent in an aneurysm to help that. I pray that they can do this on Ken.  Also he scheduled something similar to a colonoscopy to be done on the 10th only Ken just has a few inches of his colon left from those two cancer surgeries. He will check that part out to make sure it is still ok.
In the meantime our regular doc had called for more blood work on his prostrate reading so the nurse called to say he had a 35% chance of having prostrate cancer. He will wait until these two other things are taken care of to see an urologist about that. So you can see why I am asking all you to send up prayers and good thoughts for him.
Hopefully one day I can make an entry when things are going ok.  Well things have been going pretty well this summer. Ken has been wracking his brains trying to think up interesting things to do on hiding those geocaches. He has been enjoying that and has made quite a few interesting ones to hide. We have hunted a few geocaches which is always a fun thing to do. We haven't hunted as many as we would if gas wasn't so high now and if my back was in better shape.

By the way our den used to be a carport when was enclosed to make a den so just right outside this door is the real carport. Anyway I can hear a cricket making it's noise because it has eased under the door coming in here. Those things are hard to find LOL.

I will update this entry when we have some news on what is going on with Ken.Thanks in advance for your prayers.

I hope everyone has a blessed weekend.
Love to you all,
Helen

  1. Sorry to hear that the tests were not so good and will be praying that all goes well. It's very hot and humid here and we are not doing so well with heat and I am thankful for shade and fans that take the edge off. Take care!

  2. Hope everything turns out ok for your husband. Abe had a scan and they also told him, it looks like another one, close to the first one they repaired. He sees the doctor again in Aug. Hang in there. We've been having high temps but no rain until last night, we got 3/4 inch. so that will help, but we're far below what we normally have this time of year. But then we're way hotter then normal. As I can tell our electric bill for the past 32 days came yesterday and was $228.??

  7. Helen, for such a nice couple, you and your husband sure have your share of problems, and they aren't fake or phony problems, either. They are genuine. I guess when we meet our Maker we will have to ask Him "Why?". God bless you; I am praying for both of you.

  15. prayers for your husband!! I will! My mother and Aunt had aneurysms. My mothers was operable but my aunts wasnt. She has had hers for over 10 years and doing well. Yes, its scary for her but she is surpassed the doctors expectations and prayer and working at feeling calm inside has helped. I hope and pray that the doctors can remove this!!!

  16. I'm sorry to hear about the problems that Ken is having. It is so hard to have to go through all those procedures and then get bad news. I will be praying. Let me know what your geocaching names are so I can look at your hides. I won't be able to go find them right now but maybe my sister will!

  23. Hello Helen, I hope that Ken will get through this medical testing and not have any cancer. My Dad went through an aortic aneurysm surgery and described how painful it was coming out of surgery and being made to get out of bed and on his feet immediately following. He had battled a form of luekemia up until June of 2004 and was days away from 83. Mom is doing fine at 88 in Texas. I have had sciatic problems ongoing and the hot weather has kept me from working on my bathroom area. I have a two piece bathtub/shower to install and making the floor ready to tile this winter. Home Depot delivered my washing machine at the same time 2 weeks ago. It is down to 90 today and rained yesterday. Starting Monday it will be in the 80's and my worker should be here to help me and things will progress again. I will get outside now. My best thoughts for Ken and you, and Mira. Of course for the dogs also. mark/salty
