Good evening everybody, Just a short entry to let you know I am still around.
I haven't been doing anything of interest lately. Not even able to get out and walk any. I got a call returned from my doc this morning. I had called asking him to call several days ago. I wanted to know if a block on the right side would be worth the side effects of the steroids that makes my heart race and also skip beats. He said if it did that to me then he would not do one. He said he doesn't know of anything else he would be able to do to help me in any way. He suggested that I stay in touch with my local doc and see if there is any kind of medication he would give me. Since I can't take pain or anti inflammatory meds that is not going to do me a lick of good except go get a torodol shot when it gets really bad. I have been using the ice packs and staying off my feet as much as possible to combat the pain.

The weather here in Alabama is very cold for us. It got down close to 16 degrees the last two nights and the days have been cold and windy. It did get into the 40's today and supposed to get in the low 60's tomorrow so hopefully it is beginning to warm up a little more.

Sorry that I don't have anything of interest to report.
Have a blessed night everyone. Helen

  2. I'm always glad to see a post from you. Constant pain is not fun, I'm sure. I have many aches and pains, but mine are minor. It's a shame you can't take pain pills.

  3. It was so nice hearing from you. I have been wondering how you were doing. I pray your pain will soon ease up. It's cold here in Virginia too. Tonight it's supposed to go down to 12. Too cold for me. I hope you and Ken have a nice evening together.
    Take care & hugs!

  7. Well, you sure posted an exquisite photo, but it is a relief to hear from you when we know you are in pain. We just want to know you are alive and what is going on. I always get so sore and stiff from the cold, I wonder if that does not affect a lot of people, which is why I made up my mind I could never leave a sunny clime. It is too bad when an operation does not do much to take away pain. I am still hoping that you will gradually feel less. I feel so sorry for people who suffer pain with their backs. My sis has had 3 back surgeries but cannot get free of pain. Gerry

  9. I am sorry they didn't have anything to offer your as far as relief. Do you have a pain clinic you can go to? I hope it gets better for you.

  10. Hope that you are warm and happy at home to distract any pain you may have since there is not much the doctor can help you with.

Do take care and have yourself a good weekend.

  11. I'm sorry to hear you're still in pain Helen, I hope that as the weather warms your pain may diminish. Cold always makes muscles tense which increases any pain you have. Jeannette xx

  13. I know you don't like to have your posts all about your pain.. I am so sorry this is happening to you. You went into the surgery so hopeful and it seems to have made things worse. I don't understand the doctor saying there's nothing to be done.. I think I would search out and get two more opinions. I know that won't be easy but there's got to be help for the pain you are in.

  14. Helen, it was good to see the post, but sorry about the pain. It is frustrating trying to balance the side effects with benefits. But it was good to read the entry, and hopefully the weather for us folks a little south will commence to rise and so will our spirits.
Take care and hopefully snug and warm.

  15. The colors of the leaves and bulbs are my favorite colors. The best thing we can do is to focus our minds on something that take place of the pain. I managed to give up smoking again since Thanksgiving, knowing it won't do anything for me. I have been walking in the evening, taking in the air. My surgeon told me that I had dried out vertebra from nicotine. It was the stress of working on my home that started me smoking again after quiting for 4 months. I am rethinking how to deal with stress, using my health to it's fullest benifit this time. Anything I can do to improve the quality of my life. I will let you know more about my hip problem, that is now the big problem. mark

  19. Hi Helen,
It is so good to hear from you...but I hate knowing that you are still in constant pain. Looks like there is something somebody could do to help you. Maybe I have asked you this before, but I forget now so easily...Have you ever went to a chiropractor with your Back? Anything is worth trying if it will help.

  23. I am still glad to see you post Helen. Isnt it frustrating, modern medicine should be able to help you with something like this. Maybe you just havent found the right doctor. Surely there is someone out there that can help. You went through so much hoping that it would solve the pain you endure and now here you are back to square one. Its just not right. Good people like you shouldnt have pain like this. Its just not fair. I wish you didnt have this pain, I really wish and hope and pray it goes away. I hope you can just wake up one morning and get up and the pain has left you for good. Wouldnt that be something. BIG HUGS, Love, Kelly

  29. Thanks for visiting my blog Helen. Tomorrow I go to Phys. Therapy for my left hip, actually both hips are feeling better today. I have started walking again daily and the hip pain is back to normal minor arthritis pain. It had been so bad because of the weather I would have to think. My X-ray of the left hip showed mild to moderate degenerative arthritis. I am trying to stay awake this afternoon as I did not sleep but an hour this morning with no sleep last night. Weather again. Soon the days will warm, and I expect we will both start enjoying some sunny days outside. I like the new header you made with the two identical flowers and a seamless center. With the red lettering and yellow flowers with green, it makes for a beautiful setting. mark

  31. Have you tried accupuncture? My back is better, don't know if it is a result of that or it was just ready to get better. I know mine is not the same as yours either as mine doesn't hurt to drive or ride in the truck. Anyway I'm giving it a whirl I'm going back tomorrow for my appointment even though it is better. Pray you find something to help you.
