Yesterday evening and early night was a scary situation with tornadoes all over the state of AL and even went over into GA where my daughter lives . Large hail along with loud thunder boomers, lightening and wind. Everone was safe though, some trees were uprooted near here.
If you wonder why I am so afraid of them, I was in a tornado once in a car ,it picked it up off the ground and slammed it back down hard enough to break an oil seal. The hail was so large it felt like someone battering the car all over with baseball bats. The whole car was shaking. There were huge dents all over it afterward. Really scary. It did pick one car up and threw it into a pond on the interstate. We were riding parallel on a secondary road. It flattened a huge clothing store a few feet from us. Tore down a whole small mall. It crossed the road right in front of us tearing up everything in it's path.Buildings including. No deaths thankfully. So therefore I am very afraid of tornados. We were blessed not to be killed in that one.
Well here is some of the large hail that I took through the front glass door after it was gone yesterday.
Have a blessed evening everyone and be safe. Helen

Helen I can understand you being scared ~ you went through an awful time in the Tornado ~ those hail stones are Huge ~ I would not like to near when they fell ~ Ally x
ReplyDeleteHoly Cow Helen!! I'm afraid of tornadoes and I didn't have that experience ever! How scary that had to have been...I can't even imagine.
ReplyDeleteGlad all is well.
Love,
Nancy
I heard about the tornados on the news today and said a little prayer for all those affected. They are scary things. I was in one once too. Thankfully you all are ok.
ReplyDelete'On Ya'-ma
I'm scared to death of them, too, Helen. I'm glad no one was hurt in your recent storms.
ReplyDeleteOh oh, well that looks like a storm that made itself felt and heard judging from the size of those hailstones. I used to be deathly afraid of tornados, I don't even know why since I never lived in any area where they had them. Although out in the Circle Cliffs where my dad ran his cattle in the winter, there was a swath about as wide as a one lane highway where the trees had all been mowed down, cedars and pines. Which was a freak happening, but your event sounded much more frightening. I am so glad that you came out of it with no more hurts and damage than you got.
ReplyDeleteHoly cow is right.. I know your fear..
ReplyDeletethat is one of my biggest fears, being caught up in a tornado.. hope you are safe
hope your daughter is safe as well.
Kelly~
Hey, Hey, Hey, I don't fear much weather, but the tornado is the absolute worst, I definitely worry about those. There is so much power tied up in one area. I bet it was a fearful thing being in the tornado. I remember back in the 50's I saw a tractor trailer load of cars that had been in a large hail storm and they looked like some one had beat them with a ball peen hammer. I can imagine with the wind of tyhe tornado added how terrible that must have been. It could get my respect in a second.
ReplyDeleteGlad you did not see one this round.
Jack
I am so glad your OK. I was thinking about you when I heard the news. Tornadoes make me nervous.
ReplyDeleteWell, I guess those of us who live in tornado alley have decided to share!
ReplyDeleteAfter watching the news and seeing all the damage from Wednesday I guess we were pretty fortunate. You wouldnt believe it, but we went on to the store to get groceries and the sun was shining like nothing was going on. Well it wasnt right around here. From the sounds of your experience with tornadoes I would be terrified also to say the least. That one we had come sweeping right by us this past year was enough to last me a lifetime. The news confirmed ten tornadoes here in Georgia Wednesday. What a mess it left behind too. Hugs, Kelly
ReplyDeleteI am glad you and your family are safe and sound. I was in Kansas once when there was a tornado warning. I never saw the tornado, but I will never forget the sky just before the storm. It was eerily beautiful, but I was scared. I kept thinking "There's no place like home" - get me back to NY!
ReplyDeleteAnd, you should be in a Big Truck (semi) in high winds. You see the truck ahead of you lean over so far that some wheels come off the ground. Going across a big, high brige ... you move to the middle of the road so that, if you tip over ... at least you will not go "over-board".

I was talking to my other half in Macon, GA on webcam when the storm was happening. I heard the thunder! I had no idea about the torando's! Scary things. Glad everything's ok now.
ReplyDeleteI can fully understand why you fear them and so glad to know everyone's okay...and hope they never come back your way. I love your flower header...so pretty. Hope today and the weekend are good for you both...hugs and love,
ReplyDeleteJoyce
That is some serious weather you've had, Helen. And you're right, When Mother Nature gets a temper, it's best to get out of the way. Another blogger from your area reported tennisball-sized hailstones.
ReplyDeleteStay safe.
Hello Helen
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you are safe, your experience of that Tornado sounds absolutely terrifying.
Big Luv,
Jaynee X
TRNADOES TOUCHED DOWN ALL AROUND US HELEN. EACH IN THE TOWNS RIGHT NEXT TO US. DESTROYING HOMES,BARNS, CHURCHES AND EVEN TWO DEATHS WERE REPORTED.IT WAS BAD HERE BUT NOTHING DESTROYED. I'M NOT GOING TO LIE, I WAS SCARED...SO GLAD YALL ARE OK. LOVE,
ReplyDeleteCARLENE
I remember the worst storm ever experienced here in 1980. Going home from work the trees were bent sideways. Electricity was out for about 3 days and the tornado hit Marion, IL. People were killed and there was much damage. I am glad you were safe. The hail stones are very big and must have done some damage. Still cold here but sunny and calm which is nice. More physical therapy for my hip this afternoon. I am so glad to know that it is muscle giving me problems and not a hip joint. I will not have to worry about a hip replacement for many years. mark
ReplyDeleteThats got to be scary. Here un California we dont get them Thank God.Glad your all well.
ReplyDeleteI find the fascinating more than scary but I bet that would change if I was IN one. We had hail so large one day it sounded like someone was throwing rocks at all the windows. I hope everything is fine now.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to see everything is ok now. I can't even imagine having to experience on myself.
ReplyDeleteHey Helen,
ReplyDeletePraying for you and Ken as all the craziness from this winter is settling down and Good Lord willing, we'll get to eventually enjoy a little bit of spring.
Mik
