She did it again!

Well our little Patches did it again. Ken and I went to do a small bit of shopping this morning and while we were gone Patches got out of the fence again. We were not gone much over an hour and when we got back no Patches could be found. We looked everywhere and called her to no avail. Then we rode the neighborhood looking for her. We were both really worried. After a while when I was cooking I heard the dog next door barking and asked Ken to see if Patches was outside. There is a man that takes his walks on the neighborhood streets, he walks really fast and looks neither right nor left. Well he had already passed our house and was at the driveway next door. Patches was running along in front of him just like she belonged to him. Passed our house right by. Ken called her the second time and then she looked around and saw him and came running. We don't know if those National Guard guns went off while we were gone or not. They scare her so bad that she doesn't look like she knows what is going on.
We think she is climbing the fence to hunt us down. Guess we will have to shut the doggie door when we leave from now on.
My daughter's back is not doing any better so the doc went ahead and ordered another MRI, it will be done this Thursday then she will see the doc next week. I am looking for more surgery to follow. Thanks for all the prayers and good thoughts that all of you have sent her way.
I did get a few tomato plants put out but not all of them, then I stayed in bed most of the next two days with this back using ice packs.
Ken has been repairing the rails on the patio/porch and then he got that painted plus the floor. Guess he will get a couple of chairs to put out there and do away with the metal glider swing since one foot is rusting out.
Here is a Columbine I got last week.

  1. I am so glad your dog is okay! Yes it does appear as if the doggie door will have to be closed or she will run out to try and find you again. Sorry to hear about your daughter. I can't even imagine how difficult it must be to have to live with all of that chronic pain.

Your Columbine is gorgeous! Such great photos. I can't wait for mine to come up.

  3. Patches sounds like she's being a little rascal. Guess it is time for her to be "grounded" :) So, glad you got her back safely. Maybe she saw an animal or something and went chasing after it?

Sorry to hear your daughter is still not feeling any better. That must be so frustrating for her, especially after having surgery. I am sure you worry about her a lot.

I'm glad you got some tomato plants in the ground. Mine seem to be growing a little. You take care of yourself & keep us posted about the MRI.

  18. That flower (S) are awesome! You definitely have a green thumb! Be proud of it, I do NOT. But why do you do all that digging and work if you have to hurt and have ice packs?? I wouldn't! Or would you hurt anyway? We always leave our little Maltese, Kaycee in her kennel when we go away. She would be fine in the house, but when we had Teddy the Bichon too, he would sometimes pee on a rug if left to roam. But it's not like punishment both dogs would always go in their kennels to snooze with the doors open in the daytime when we are home. We keep kenneling Kaycee for safety reasons. I don't know why as the house is locked. But she could still hurt herself somehow. Once we had a Bichon (Maggie) who tore out her back knee jumping off the couch in the basement. Little dogs are touchier. We were use to Collies. Still praying for you & your daughter, too. As you know, surgery sure doesn't solve all. I know from experience, but when you are in pain and the doctors tell you it will help, well, we tend to do it. Keep mosting about her and your own health here. Cuz I really want to know how you all are! Merry

  19. Those flowers don't look real, they are so perfect! They are beautiful Helen, your yard always has something beautiful in it, birds or flowers, either one is fine to look at. :) Thanks for sharing these beautiful sights with us. Sounds like Patches has decided she doesnt want y'all going anywhere without her. I agree, just going to have to lock the doggie door while y'all are gone. Glad you found her and she was okay! Love, Kelly

  20. Hi Helen,
Thanks for the comment about the apple blossoms. To answer your comment I should tell you that no matter how hard I try, the squirrels or some bird almost always gets the apples before I can get one when it is ripe. There are so many blossoms this year that there might be enough apples on the tree for me to get one. I hope so.

I am glad you got the dog back. And the flower photo is just stunning.

  27. I'm so happy you have your dog back. It made me smile when you said she walked right by...she must have thought the person 'walking' her was going to bring him home.
Your Columbine is such a beautiful color. I hope I get some flowers on mine this year. It's been warmer now and the flowers are blooming and the leaves are beginning to come out. I especially like the leaves of my red maple this time of your. I haven't been well so I didn't get to many blogs to read for a while but I always love to visit yours.
